Dr. Pritchard completed her education and training in California. She received her Ph.D. and Master of Arts degrees in Clinical Psychology from the Professional School of Psychology, Sacramento. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from the University of California, San Francisco. Her doctoral training was completed at the California Youth Authority Northern California Reception Center, the Sacramento County Mental Health Treatment Center, and in a private psychological practice in Sacramento. She maintains an active clinical psychology practice in Sacramento. Her work includes psychological assessment of infants, children, adolescents, and adults as well as psychotherapy for children and adults. She also provides critical incident stress management intervention for various organizations.
Dr. Pritchard practiced nursing for over 20 years before becoming a psychologist. With this multidisciplinary clinical experience, Dr. Pritchard provides an integrated treatment approach that bridges the interface between medicine and psychology. Her experience includes the assessment and treatment of individuals with a variety of psychological problems, critical incident stress management, as well as individual and group treatment for bereaved individuals. She has extensive experience in the care and support of terminally ill and critically ill patients and their families, especially children. She is experienced in educating expectant parents, new parents, and high-risk parents about childbirth, lactation, and early infant development. She also worked to prevent maltreatment in military families, at McClellan Air Force Base, through a new parent support program that focused on family assessment, intervention, education, and treatment. For most of her career, Dr. Pritchard has functioned as part of a multidisciplinary health care team providing nursing services in teaching hospitals and clinics, and psychological services in inpatient and outpatient mental health facilities, a youth correctional facility, a care facility for developmentally disabled adults, and a private psychological practice.
