David Black, Ph.D. has
provided psychological services to local police, sheriff, and fire departments;
state and federal agencies; medical groups and surgeons. His areas of expertise include pre-employment
psychological screening of peace officers, forensic psychological evaluation, employee
wellness, and pre-surgical psychological evaluation.
Dr. Black has taught at the University of California, Davis; California State University, Sacramento; and the University of Georgia. Undergraduate
and graduate courses he has taught over the years include Abnormal Psychology;
Psychology of Adjustment; Theories and Techniques of Counseling and
Psychotherapy; Alcohol and Chemical Dependency: Assessment and Treatment; Human
Sexuality, Partner Abuse, and Couple Counseling; and Personality Theory. He has also given talks for law enforcement agencies, fire departments, medical groups, and Fortune 500
companies.
He received his Ph.D.
and Master of Science degrees from the Clinical Psychology program at the University of Georgia,
and graduated with dual baccalaureate degrees in Psychology and Philosophy from The University of Washington. Prior to
his clinical and forensic practice, Dr. Black conducted competency-based
leadership evaluations, coached executives, and helped international companies identify and promote talent.
