Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy

Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, or CBT for short, is a relatively focused form of therapy for depression, phobias, obsessive-compulsive disorder, panic attacks, posttraumatic stress disorder, and many other problems.  A large body of scientific research has demonstrated that CBT is an effective form of therapy .

Although medication is sometimes combined with therapy, CBT does not have the negative side-effects associated with psychiatric medication.  Additionally, patients can learn skills to help avoid relapse after therapy has ended.
